This blog needs to be no less than 350 words and is due by THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8 11:59pm!!!
There is ONE MONTH left at your WLE. During this time, you must complete a graduation portfolio worthy project. You will also be presenting this project to the lower division and Cosmic families at some point during this semester. However, the project is DUE on Thursday, December 13 (the day after your last WLE).
1. Describe your final project
2. Describe how you will present your final project to the CAT community
3. List your specific benchmarks that will lead you to the successful completion of your project over the next 4 weeks.
We expect that your projects and presentations are high quality (meeting or exceeding the standards of your WLE project from last year).
Extra Credit: In a separate blog posting: If you were a bird, what kind of bird would you be? (SHOW, DON'T TELL). No eagles allowed.

It’s kind of hard for me to describe my final project because I am still unsure of what exactly I want/can do. Last year with the Exploratorium, the final project was sort of a no-brainer (re-create an exhibit featured or just sort of draw some optical illusions), but this internship with Parks and Recreation is making me just sort of draw a blank every time I try to think about it.
I had a few ideas revolving around planting plants maybe in pots and dispersing them in classrooms. Or planting a tree or something in the park, or maybe creating a display with statistics and figures concerning those who take care of the park, the trash generated by public, the damage done by the public etc. Like I said, I’m a little lost. If I could actually talk to you about it, Mr. Koh, that would be really cool.
I guess I was just going to present the project on a display board or with trusty old PowerPoint. I remember last year it was mentioned by some of the parents how MUCH PowerPoint was used and I wasn’t sure if we were going to try something new this year, hopefully not. I say if it ain't broke don’t fix it. As for the benchmarks…I believe I have some sorting out to do with this College Portfolio worthy project idea first before I tackle the specifics, first.
Extra Credit: You know I thought I was an albatross, but I am not which is very sad. Upon further reflection I have come to the decision that I most resemble a rough and tough native North Beach parrot. I wish I was solitary and metaphorical like the noble albatross, but I got real with myself and realized I just like to hang out and eat fruit with my parrot friends in the sunshine. I can be an albatross later, in retirement.

Well actually I don’t really know yet what my final project at my internship could be. I think I will have to speak with my mentor what she thinks a good final project could be. All the work which I did in the last weeks there was pretty boring and I am not sure if it would count as a final project. One think which could perhaps count is to built a data base by scanning in business cards. But there I first have to see if this is ok for the requirements. If I am allowed to do this for my final project then I will only have to scan in the cards for the next 4 weeks and correct the results which a program reads from the scan. This would be very boring and hopefully I will be able to find an other project which I could do. An other possibility could perhaps be to work with a data base from an other realtor and ad there missing parts which were lost by transferring the data from an other program to the new one. So I could look the missing information up in outlook and copy then in the new data base. This would become also boring but it wouldn’t be as boring as scanning in cards the whole day. If o would do this for my final project then I would have to compare the whole time the information about the contacts because a lot of information were lost and this will take a long time to add the whole information to the new data base. Now mr koh only has to tell me if this are possibilities for my finale project and then I will be able to start it next Wednesday or otherwise I will have to search a new one then next week.

If I would be a bird then I would probably be a falcon. Then I would fly during the day at the sky, see the world from an other perspective and would let me carry from the wind in the warm sunshine and would enjoy the day without really do anything. And if I become hungry then I would go to hunt an animal but I would change the menu and would try to get something tasty instead of rodents and disgusting stuff like this.

Well I also don’t really know what to do. I need help in think of something to do because there isn’t much I can do for them because of the system they have to have. I could just help rearrange their whole filing system. I really need ideas and I’ve been trying to brainstorm but I cant really think of anything I can do with out them telling me I cannot do it. I was also thinking of making a pamphlet for them but I’m not really sure what I would put on the pamphlet.

1. For my final project I hope to actually cut someones hair like one of my friends and then style it. Along with this I will show my process and maybe create a website for my mentor. Since he is moving to the east bay it will help him to get new clients.
2.I hope to present my project to the cat community by making a video of this process I guess. Then I can present the website by projecting it and showing the links, pictures, and portfolio.
3. The benchmarks I will fallow to meet these projects goals is:
1. Practice all styles and cuts as much as I can.
2. Take pictures of diffrent cuts and styles my mentor does on customers.
3. Start to create website with the pictures and info I have avilable.
4. Find a friend who is willing to have me cut their hair and style it.
5.Then cut their hair and tape the process.
As a matter of fact, I just had an hour and thirty minute meeting today with my two mentors about the process of my final project. We talked about how I will present what I have done during my internship, the mediums I can use to present, a general timeline of the final steps of my project, and a critique of my project. From this meeting, I now have a better Idea of what my target audience will be for this issue, and how I can establish this newsletter to continue throughout the process with the proceeding interns.
My final project will be as follows:
A monthly newsletter that will be distributed to the members that attend the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco Mission Charter Community Meetings that discuss the development of the building. The goal of this series of newsletters will be to inform the community of the building process so that they are aware of the changes in their neighborhood. The issue which I will present will target the members in my office who are unfamiliar with the progress of the site. Although it will be lacking in content, it can be used as a template for the future newsletters that will be issued as the building process expands.
I will present my final project at TEF Talk on December 5th using a powerpoint presentation to describe the project and its purpose, a pin-up of all my previous drafts to show the progress and development of the final newsletter, along with a short flash animation of a walk through of the future site using Google Sketch-Up (the best program ever!). We discussed the possibility of giving handouts to the audience as reference during the presentation, but we all agreed that it would distract the viewer from my showing. I think I will present this to the CAT community in a similar way (just without the free food).
Benchmarks
-Complete Final Template for newsletter
-Familiarize self with animation through Google Sketch-Up
-Create walk through demonstration of future site
-Compile previous drafts of newsletter and other projects completed while at site
-Gather information and create powerpoint
-PRESENT!
If I were a bird, I would be a flamingo. Since childhood, Ive had a facination with flamingos and their ability to sleep on one leg and their brightly colored exterior. Although I dont think I have many characteristics that resemble those of a flamingo, I always thought they were really interesting. Therefore, if I could be an bird I would be a flamingo. Except I wouldnt smell as bad.

To tell you the truth my mentor had this idea for my project and told me to look something up but then I think we both kind of forgot about it because there is so much to do at the ARC. It is quite hectic to juggle a bunch of tasks and simultaneously try to juggle a project. But if this project has fallen out and I am to present to the lower division I guess I could try to excite people to go join the zoo by taking pictures of the different areas people work in and give a brief overview of what you do there and what my experience was at that specific work area or task I had to do.
To present my final project I am thinking of either taking a bunch of pictures and doing a slideshow or power point of it, despite as lame as it sounds I think it is simple and clean and it will get the job done. But if I take a bunch of pictures maybe I can make something interactive with buttons much like the first project we did with Regina.
I hate benchmarks because they are annoying! >:| But my first “hurdle” will be to take pictures by next Wednesday. Then throughout the course after the pictures are taken I will begin to work on the power point or interactive flash thingy up until the due date.
If I had to be a bird I would be an eagle. But we can not be an eagle which makes my angry!! >:( But I thought about this question and so I wondered, “Is there a quiz on which bird would you be?” and there was and I took it! And I got something, a bluejay. But although that is a likely outcome because who hates a blue jay and I mean the last part of my name is “jay.” So that is a likely possibility and probably is the true possibility. But I would love to be a raven or a crow. To me they’re basically the same thing but one of them is bigger. Think about it, they are smart and look kind of haunting and they seem to be able to peck eyes out! So yeah I would be a blue jay despite my longing to be a raven or crow. But this is a weird thought. If I was a bluej ay because of my name, then I would be something like a silver blue jay because argent meant something like a silver color back in the times of knights and King Arthur! So that would be cool!
